New Normal freelancers

A lot of us are shifting from Office based job to Work from home due to this COVID-19 Pandemic, but is it true that becoming a freelancer is the new normal? So let's start by sharing my experience with this so-called "New Normal".

Effects of the New Normal

I'm Cathy, a mom, and a wife. I've been a housewife for a year now and the pandemic really affects the new normal workload of my husband as a Service Manager in a popular fast food restaurant here in the Philippines. They have limited working days per week (around 3-4 days) with an unpaid day-off. His salary is only enough for our son's basic needs like (diaper, formula milk, distilled water, etc.), for electricity and grocery. As a wife, I got conscience because I can't support him financially. I keep on saying this to myself that, I can help my husband soon while I'm here at home taking care of our son, and while I am working. And a lightbulb clicking noise comes in. It gave me the idea of becoming a freelancer.

THIS IS IT! PANSIT!

So, what is a freelancer? A freelancer is a highly-skilled self-employed professional who offers services to business owners, CEO, Entrepreneurs, Online Sellers, etc. It could be in Real Estate, E-Commerce, Customer Service Representative, Accounting, Marketing, and IT Firms, Virtual Assistant, etc. I've read a lot of testimonies about freelancing on how they earned a 6-digit in a month (even 7-digits! That's C-R-A-Z-Y!), how they achieved 3-5 clients after enrolling a Freelance Academy, how they finally have a life and work balance and of course, freedom and a lot more!. After reading those exciting testimonies, it gave me the ultimate hope that maybe this is my calling, maybe, THIS IS IT! PANSIT! So, without further ado, I enrolled in FVA Academy who offers a lot of courses needed as a freelancer especially for us, Filipinos. Luckily during this time, they offered an Anniversary Promo for Freelancing Course. I informed my husband about it and I'm happy that he supported me all the way. What's great about this Academy is that they have a community for freelancers and clients in which you can communicate directly, they also have 24/7 access to the course you enroll, and a dedicated Coach Grace who helped us to pursue our new normal freelancing journey. Since I am eager to learn more about freelancing, I even participated in free training in other Academy. I also register my email just to claim those free e-book about this industry.

For me, becoming a freelancer is the new normal since a lot of businesses are into Online. I even sell dried fish, fruits, lumpia, and my mom's embutido online and created a FB page under my son's name (Zion's Market Goodies). Even my friends and relatives are into online selling. Also, a lot of our citizens lost their jobs and the idea of freelancing gave them hope to try and excel in this industry. So, there's no harm in trying something new to you as long as you have the eagerness to survive amidst the pandemic. We should find ways to learn a new skillset needed as a freelancer. Just don't lose hope and make your family as your inspiration to strive.
